I wrote to you on <date of last letter> with regard to my complaint about a massive increase in your estimate for the cost of my energy.
You have since provided me with an explanation seeking to justify these extraordinary increases in my energy bills. However you have failed to provide an adequate explanation about why you and other energy suppliers are continuing to double your profits at the same time as more than doubling energy bills to customers like me.
I have read recently that UK gas and electricity distribution companies have higher profit margins than any other sector – 40.5% for gas and 42.5% for electricity. This is even higher than private equity companies and has allowed you and other energy companies to pay out billions of pounds worth of dividends to shareholders.
Oil companies have seen profits double or triple (BP £6.9bn, Shell 10bn in just one quarter) so it is hard to understand why I am being asked to double the amount I pay simply to receive exactly the same gas and electricity I received last year.
I would like a clear explanation of why you think I should be paying such extraordinary rates for my energy given the above points
